GREEN CARE GUIDE
clothing
We consider our environmental footprint at every point of our design process, even after our products have been sold.
SMART CLOTHES CARE reminds us all to consider Mother Earth when washing, drying, and taking care of our clothes. We know keeping clothes around for as long as possible is one of the best things we can do to reduce their impact.
Properly caring for your garments prolongs their life, conserve natural resources, and keep textile out of landfills.
1. WASHING
Consider whether your clothes need to be washed after wearing them all day. Always pay attention to the individual care labels inside your garments but aim to wash your clothing at low temperatures (max. 30°C) or cold. It’s better for the environment and for your garments. Washing them regularly uses an incredible amount of water, fabrics lose quality, cause shrinkage and colors fade.
2. HANG DRY
Tumble dryers are an invention that makes everyday life easier, but using them is uneconomical and consumes a lot of energy. Instead of throwing clothes in the dryer, try to hang dry whenever possible. It's a better option - both for the environment and for your clothes.Drying using a clothes rack is the best way to keep your clothes fresh and ideal for extending the life of your clothing —not to mention it will reduce your footprint.
3. DRY CLEAN ONLY IF NECESSARY
If your clothes only need dry cleaning, your best option is to look for an eco-friendly dry cleaner. The chemicals used by most dry cleaners can harm air quality, worker health, and your well-being.
4. STEAM INSTEAD IRONING
Avoid iron. You can avoid creases and folds by taking hang dried laundry in the bathroom while showering. The steam will naturally remove creases, saving effort and energy from ironing.
